Application Tips
Exfoliation is key! Dry flaky skin will only look worse while using minerals, so make sure you've exfoliated. Moisturize 10-15 minutes before applying minerals.
CONCEALER: Use before foundation application on clean, dry skin. Using a small brush apply concealer to areas you want to cover--blemishes, age spots, skin irregularities, etc.
Use either 2 light coats of foundation or one coat of yellow concealer to conceal darker areas around your eyes including the corners and any under eye dark areas.
Use either 2 layers of your foundation color, or one coat of green concealer to diminish red blemishes and conceal red colored areas, such as rosacea. Blend in well.
This may also be foiled on with a damp brush, and allow to dry before applying your foundation.
To make a cream concealer add one drop of moisturizer to a small amount of the mineral concealer powder, then blend the products together into a smooth creamy consistency, and apply. The cream when applied will quickly turn into powder.
FOUNDATION: If you have the sifter foundation pot, turn your mica pot upside down, and right away turn it right side up again. You will have a small amount of powder left in the lid, and that's typically more than enough to do your foundation.
Take your foundation brush and tap it into the powder in the lid, remember less is better when using makeup minerals.
Tap your brush gently on the side of the lid or jar to remove any excess mica powder, and tap your brush with the hairs pointing upward to "load" the brush. This will settle the powder into the brush head.
We suggest that you start the application to the face at the jaw line on the outer area of the face, and work towards the center of your face. Firmly spread powder on clean, dry skin to evenly blend pigments.
For blemishes, a separate concealer is not necessarily needed. We suggest taking a drop of your moisturizer, put it in the palm of your hand, and drop a tiny amount of the foundation minerals into it, and smooth together to make a paste, and dab it on your problem area with your finger. Soon as it is dry, apply your minerals like usual, and your problem area will be very well concealed.
If you get your face completely covered with the foundation color, and feel it isn't enough coverage, simply retrace your steps to add more coverage of the mica minerals.
If you have skin that tends to have oily zones, you may wish to also use our sheer cover mineral veil under or over your foundation. This will help to absorb the extra oil from your skin.
You may make your own special blend of colors by combining several foundation colors to exactly match your skin tones. Experimenting is half the fun using this type of makeup.
BLUSH: Following the directions above, invert your blush powder into the lid of the blush container (you can blend several colors together to get the exact color you want for the blush), and gently tap the brush on the side of the jar or lid to remove any excess mica minerals, and start at the side of the face and again work towards the apple of the cheek.
The ideal color for cheeks mimics the flushed color of the outdoors from the lighter peachy toned blushes to the darker matte, or even the low luster colors, whatever your personal preference is.
BRONZER or HIGHLIGHTER: Apply these minerals to the areas that the light would naturally shine on, the forehead, cheeks, bridge of nose, and chin to give a naturally healthy glow look to your skin. Apply it as you would the blush.
FINISHING POWDER: This is one of the most versatile minerals formulated and used. This will help absorb oil on the face, helps absorb perspiration, and gives a finished look to the face.
This is an all-over translucent mineral face powder that can be worn alone or as finishing powder. Our mineral finishing powder gives you that air brushed look while sealing your makeup.
EYESHADOW: The eyes are where you can really have fun with the fabulous colors, shimmers, low lusters, mattes and sparkles. Often the shimmers are used over the top of the more subdued or natural looking colors for the glitz.
Dip the tip of your brush or applicator into the powder. Tap brush on the side of jar. Apply to lids, crease, or brow, blending well for a natural look.
EYELINER can be applied dry or wet (called foiling):
DRY APPLICATION: Dip the tip of your eyeliner brush into eye color powder. Gently tap off any excess minerals. Apply to the lid getting as close to the lash line as possible. If you want more pronounced color for the eye liner, simply reapply using the same method.
DAMP (foiled) APPLICATION: Simply dampen your eyeliner brush with a small amount of water, and dip the brush tip into the liner color you wish to use, our matte or shimmer colors work equally as well when used as eyeliners when foiled. Gently lay the eyeliner brush tips on the eyelid, close to the lash line, and sweep the color over the eye, and repeat for the lower eye.
FUN WITH THE MINERALS ON YOUR LIPS AND NAILS:Simply load up your clear nail polish brush, then just put the tip into a small amount of mineral color, and apply it to the nails. All the shimmer and depth will come out on your nails for a total color statement.
A great way to carry the color theme over to your lips is by mixing some minerals with your lip gloss, or by applying the lip gloss as normal, the gently brushing or tapping on some mineral color for that pop of color.
The three ingredients that are not approved in the USA to be used in lip products are Chromium Oxide, Iron Blue and Cyanide, however are fine for any other toiletries application. If you are outside of the United States of America, you will have to check your particular countries approved ingredients.
Remember, practice makes perfect and it will take some time to get used to using minerals versus liquids. Be persistent in your practice and before you know it, you'll be able to apply your minerals quickly and easily. |
